On December 9, 1964 the angels sang,
the trumpets sounded, and a voice from heaven shouted:
"Look out below!"
That is the day the world was introduced to Jim Duggan. Born in the
small town of Sandersville, Georgia, Jim was raised in nearby (and
slightly larger) Macon. Due to family heritage and hometown upbringing,
Jim is bilingual - he speaks fluent English and Redneck.
Jim enjoyed the blessing of being raised in a Christian home, educated
at a Christian school, and attended a strong Christ centered church. He
received a B.A. from Mercer University in 1987 and a Master's Degree
from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1997. He also enjoyed
additional studies at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary's North
Georgia Campus.
On October 26, 1991 Jim hit the lottery big time! Well, not literally,
but even better - that is the day he married his sweetheart, the former
Andrea Johnson. Jim and Andrea were blessed with a daughter, Rebekah, on
September 6, 2002. They have one pet of their own, a cat Rahab, but have
become the "god-family" to the neighbor's menagerie: Stormy (the mare),
Jack and Nemo (the donkeys), and the herd of over 30 goats.
Jim began in ministry serving various churches as in youth and music
ministries, but God called him to be a pastor and in 1986, Jim became
pastor for a few months of Garrison Baptist Church in Warner Robins,
Georgia. Since that time, Jim has pastored Cooperville Baptist Church
(Coopers, GA), Cadwell (GA) Baptist Church, Pointe South Community
Church (Riverdale, GA), and now First Baptist Church of Hoschton,
Georgia.
Jim loves to write, read, and surf the internet. He is a big-time sports
fan - Braves, Falcons, and Jackets. He publishes a biweekly blog, Jim's
Gems, a monthly article in the local newspaper, and a monthly article in
The Christian Voice magazine. He loves music - everything from classical
to R&B, from country to rock and everything in between. Jim collects
Tabasco® trinkets and smiley faces.
